Team M+A Athletes Take Podium On Both Sides of the Border
This weekend saw team Mud and Adventure athletes take the podium on both sides of the border. Congrats to Elise Fugowski, Laura Perry-Lunardi, Charles Vassallo and Alex De Huerta for making the podium at the New Jersey Super Spartan and the Monterey Super Spartan in Mexico.
Tired of mud? Take to the streets. The rise of the...
Many obstacle course racers have been getting people motivated to take on their favorite race in the OCR racing community. But did you know one of the main reasons that many potential racers have not taken part in an obstacle race? The mud and the water are some of the main fears many potential participants do not like nor want to deal with the muddy aftermath, as well as the possibility of having run through something other than just mud (since many of the OCR races take place on farm land which can have more than just regular ‘mud’ on the course).
Race Review: Mud Hero, Albion Hill, Ontario, Canada – Aug 23-24,...
Overall, Mud Hero ranks in my top 5 for true ‘Muddy Bliss’. It is recommended for the entire family and not only boasts a great location, but plenty of mud and fun to satisfy all levels of racers. Generally speaking I do not repeat a race, for this one, I will make an exception –over and over again!
Playout: The Game – Who Knew Exercise Could Be So Much...
Who knew exercise could not only be so much fun, but also so portable! Whether you work long hours, don't belong to a gym, or are always traveling (or all of the above), this revolutionary take on fitness is for you. In fact, even if none of these apply, you will still enjoy this "game."
Although indicated as such on the package, Playout is SO much more than just a game. The concept is ridiculously simple, but strategically effective - make fitness FUN. There are so many options that no game will ever be exactly the same. It's motivating if you are by yourself, but equally fun with friends. Another great reason why Playout is adaptable in just about any situation. Some people like to work out alone, some prefer a group - you can do either.
Hobie: I’m Concerned About Athlete Safety at the Spartan Race World...
"After the Beast the top 20 men and women from the elite category will run multiple laps on a short course that will be very obstacle heavy. The person who finished in 20th place will have the shortest rest time before being forced out into the next course" -Joe Desena (page 36 of the August edition of Spartans digital magazine)
In the interest of preserving the health of the elite athletes I would like to petition Reebok Spartan Race to reconsider this "Sprint" race for the elites.
Obstacle Race Organizers Join in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge
While obstacle racers are no strangers to cold water (Artic Enema anyone?), it seems like everyone lately has taken up dumping cold water on...

5 Exercises You Can Do With a Weighted Ruck
Today I set out to do a full body workout using my weighted ruck. My ruck held 7 bricks with a dry weight of exactly 45lbs. I wanted to hit some major muscle groups focusing on training for GORUCK events. I did 5 different exercises. 5 sets of 30 reps of each exercise for a total of 750 reps. I focused less on time and more on form. During the flutter kicks, I got caught in the rain and decided to do them under the water as it ran off my roof.
Event Recap: Warrior Dash Poconos, PA
While most elite athletes were a little more south in Virginia doing something [Spartan Race] Super on Saturday, I made the trek to Northeast Pennsylvania for the Poconos edition of the Warrior Dash. I mainly chose this event because my good friend Travis and I wanted to complete a more "fun" type OCR event at some point over the Summer after having A LOT of schedule conflict on dates of other OCRs and for one reason or another, we saw this one to fit. It worked out for us and I wouldn't regret it.
“What’s Your Favorite Obstacle Race?”
A lot of my friends know that I enjoy racing. “What is your favorite obstacle race?” is a question I have been asked many times. I have competed in many types of races in the last few years. Can I pick one that is my favorite?
