Runner Profile: Rob DeClercq

Name: Rob DeClercq
Age: NOT 36…okay, I’m 36
Hometown: Born in Detroit, MI
Occupation: Supply Chain Consultant
Mud runs and obstacle races conquered to date: Spartan Race – Super Spartan Miami 2012 (2nd age group / 33rd o’all); actually that was it (but they’re dangerously fun)
Favorite event so far: Spartan Race will always hold a place in my heart purely because I am a Michigan State Spartan. ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ!

Bio: With roots in high school swimming, I became a competitive age group triathlete in 2008 when a friend convinced me to sign up for the fat tire (mountain bike) division of a local sprint triathlon. I won the division series and have been racing competitively ever since in triathlons, swimming and running events. I am honored to have been able to compete at the national level in swimming and triathlon events as well as place in the top 1% in my first marathon (Marine Corps Marathon, DC, 2011).

I continue to seek out new challenges while maintaining that delicate balance between work, home and triathlon though let me be honest: I work to live! I love swimming with the sharks, riding my bike alongside alligators, and running on the beach at sunrise! I love competing whether it’s a swim race, a marathon, triathlon or any-thon. My motto: try and keep up!
