A review of Pilgrim’s Challenge, as part of Pete Rees’ preparation for the Marathon Des Sables.
Ignoring my plans and targets and looking at this as a stand-alone event, it really was excellent. I have no real frame of reference and can’t compare it to other ultras but I was extremely impressed. The staff at every stage were amazingly chirpy and helpful, which really helps to keep you positive, particularly at the check points. The food looked great and, if I ever did it again, I’d be all over that! And the route itself was excellent. Hideously challenging, of course, but “easy” can get a little bit boring.
